FAQs
CGPA = Sum of (SGPA ร Credits) รท Total Credits. It's a credit-weighted average.
Yes! Semesters with more credits have more impact on your CGPA.
SGPA means Semester Grade Point Average. It shows your average performance in one semester only. Each subject has credits and a grade point (like 10, 9, 8โฆ). SGPA is calculated by multiplying credits ร grade points for all subjects, adding them, then dividing by total credits. So, subjects with higher credits affect SGPA more. Example: if total (creditsรgrade points) = 160 and total credits = 20,
then SGPA = 160 รท 20 = 8.0. SGPA changes every semester, while CGPA is the overall average of all semesters.
SGPA (Semester Grade Point Average) is the credit-weighted average of your grade points in one semester.
Formula
SGPA = (ฮฃ (Credit ร Grade Point)) รท (ฮฃ Credits)
Simple Example
| Subject | Credits | Grade Point (GP) | Credits ร GP |
|---|---|---|---|
| Maths | 4 | 9 | 36 |
| Physics | 3 | 8 | 24 |
| English | 2 | 7 | 14 |
| Lab | 1 | 10 | 10 |
- Total (Credits ร GP) = 36 + 24 + 14 + 10 = 84
- Total Credits = 4 + 3 + 2 + 1 = 10
- SGPA = 84 รท 10 = 8.4
Tip: Subjects with higher credits affect SGPA more.
โCreditsโ are fixed by your college/university for each subject (based on hours/importance). You usually canโt increase credits for the same subject, but you can earn more total credits by taking extra/required courses.
